A fortress built by the ancient inhabitants of the Glacial Forest. The barbarians named it as their main base. However, records unearthed in other ancient barbarian sites say the Ice Throne was lost to a giant blizzard that lasted for 20 years. This fortress, composed entirely of permanently frozen ice, emerged from the storm untouched. Attempts to recolonize the Ice Throne fail due to even worse weather. Eventually, the ancient records say, the barbarians abandoned the Ice Throne. That was the beginning of their decline in history, but the Ice Throne has remained at the top of the world as a reminder of their glory and might.
Some say the barbarians great treasures, which disappeared, are stored in the Ice Throne. Since the ice is impenetrable, getting the treasure with traditional methods would be suicide. Getting it with magic would also be suicide due to the Ice Elementals. Thus, the rumors and myths about the barbarian treasures continue to survive. Mostly, this is because stupid adventurers attempt the Frozen Wastes in a deadly bid to simply arrive at the Ice Throne. That always ends badly.
Because of the lives lost in attempting to hold it, and attempting to reach it, the Ice Throne has been rumored to be haunted. However, nothing undead has ever been spotted by explorer ships from Granholm or Grippa that sail by the Ice Throne. Landing there would be impossible though, due to the ice that usually forms around the ships when they get close to land. Thus, men have settled with just looking with spy glasses.
Still, until the Ice Throne is tamed by mortal hands once more, the rumors will persist. And so fools will continue to die.
