Pass through the Mystic Forest and over the Tidaran Pass and you'll enter into the Glacial Forest. The Glacial Forest was once as green and verdant as the Mystic Forest. However, the planet's crust has shifted since that time and the forest has moved north. As the climate became colder and colder, only the ancient conifer trees, taller than five stories, continued to thrive. Eventually, the ground became covered in permafrost and the fauna and minor flora died off. Ice storms became the norm. Blizzards raged.
A short while ago, an army of barbarian men invaded the Glacial forest and attempted to break it for their own means. They felled many ancient trees and built a fortress made out of permanently frozen ice. While the fortress became impenetrable and provided excellent housing for the barbarians, the weather and climate gradually became worse and worse. Eventually, all the barbarians were killed in an enormous ice storm that lasted a year. However, the forest of ancient trees survived.
This combination of living trees in a frozen environment led to the development of some truly breathtaking scene's of beauty and grisly scenes of death. Few things aside from the trees survive in the climate. Those that do, Polar Bears, Seals, Ice Eagles, Ice Dragons, Ice Elementals, and Woolly Dragons are constantly on the move.
It is said that some warriors and some adventurers come to these frozen northlands in search of the barbarian's golden hoard. Others in search of survival training. Some more come in search of animal pelts and meat. In any case, no one stays up here unless they want to die a from hypothermia... at least, no one warm blooded or susceptible to the cold.
